Citi is looking for a Data Science Specialist to join our Document Technology team. You will work at the heart of a global financial institution to build the next generation Enterprise Document Platform. Your role will be to match AI solutions to business problems, research and develop AI capabilities, and guide the data science team.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with product and technology teams to match the right AI based solutions to solve business problems.
- Research and develop AI capabilities that will be implemented in the platform.
- Build and maintain a roadmap of AI capabilities from inception to production.
- Guide the data science team to perform their work and growth.
- Work with product and software development teams from requirements to production.
- Design, develop, test, support and maintain AI development.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in Data Science, with a focus on Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Document Understanding.
- Proven hands-on experience with Generative AI solutions applied to unstructured documents such as contracts, forms, reports, and free-text records.
- Expertise in LangChain for building LLM-based pipelines and orchestrating multi-step reasoning workflows.
- Proficiency in Python, including libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Pydantic, FastAPI, and PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong experience designing and fine-tuning LLM-based extraction, summarization, classification, and QA pipelines.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) frameworks, and evaluation techniques for GenAI models.
- Experience working with embedding models and vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Weaviate, Chroma).
- Ability to evaluate and compare performance across open-source and proprietary LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Claude, Mistral, LLaMA).
- Understanding of the Model Risk Management (MRM) process, including documentation, validation, and governance standards for ML/AI models.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on end-to-end solution development.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Experience in REST API design and integration.
- Experience with version control (Git, GitHub/GitLab).
- Experience with Cloud deployment and containerization (Docker, AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Data Management, Computer Science, Information Systems).
