About the Role

The Washington State Senate Republican Caucus is hiring a Data Integrations Supervisor to serve as the lead authority on system connectivity and data transmission across the Health Care Authority (HCA). In this role, you will independently map integrations, identify communication gaps, and set technical standards to guide modernization. You will supervise two teams of data professionals whose work directly implements this connectivity vision.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure the flow of data between systems in the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP) is efficient, transparent, and interoperable.
  • Provide specialized system administration support for various systems within HCA's data management realm.
  • Design and maintain secure, high-performance data pipelines.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and resolve inter-system data connectivity issues and alerts.
  • Develop best practices for implementing data repository connections using technical expertise.
  • Maintain clear documentation of preferred APIs, data formats, and integration protocols.
  • Facilitate communication between technical teams.
  • Implement dashboards and reports to track data flows, identify bottlenecks, and ensure timely error resolution.
  • Verify data exchanges adhere to organizational security, privacy, and compliance standards.
  • Identify and communicate system issues impeding data flow.
  • Supervise members of the Integrated Data Engineering (IDE) and Database Administration (DBA) teams.
  • Ensure the unit tracks customer requests and monitors solutions delivered by the team.
  • Define objectives and success metrics based on business needs.
  • Ensure direct reports have the tools, training, and resources necessary to meet division goals.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, business, business analysis/intelligence, or a closely related field AND five (5) years of progressively responsible professional IT experience.
  • An Associate degree OR equivalent two (2) years of vocational technical training AND seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional IT experience.
  • Nine (9) years of progressively responsible professional IT experience.
  • Three (3) years of Journey level experience as an IT Systems Administrator or in an IT Data Management position.
  • Four (4) years of experience managing and configuring systems/services server technology in a production environment.
  • One (1) year of experience with application research, design, implementation, configuration, and administration.
  • One (1) year of systems administration work, researching, designing and implementing infrastructure to support technical specifications.
  • Three (3) years of experience establishing connections between systems to facilitate data transfer.
  • Two (2) years of experience implementing data pipelines supporting traditional databases, data lakes, data warehouses, and business intelligence tools.
  • The ability to take action to learn and grow.
  • The ability to take action to meet the needs of others.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS.
  • Experience with common data-related AWS Services and Console: S3, RDS, EC2, CloudWatch, etc.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices.
  • Proficiency with Software as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Managed Services.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as a Service.
  • Experience monitoring Service Level Agreements.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), configuration and release management principles.

Team & Environment

This role supervises two teams: Database Administration (DBA) and Integrated Data Engineering (IDE). You will report to the EDD Office Manager within Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) and oversee the Data Integration Management (DIM) section.
