Gap Inc. is looking for a Data Governance Manager focused on Customer, Marketing, and Commerce. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert within our enterprise data governance team, responsible for prioritizing high-value business use cases and enabling data-driven insights and decisions.
What You'll Do
- Articulate, interpret, and apply data strategy principles to solve moderately complex business problems spanning multiple functions.
- Drive workshops independently with business stakeholders to understand use cases and facilitate cross-functional solutions.
- Lead the implementation of data governance policies and procedures for data sharing, retention, and PII protection.
- Lead data governance forums to ensure effective oversight and achieve desired outcomes.
- Own the build-out of the customer, loyalty, and marketing business metrics library with attribute enrichment and serve as the lead finance data steward.
- Manage data source identification, controls monitoring, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
- Define and gather business functional data quality rules for core customer metrics.
- Support transformation programs, including customer loyalty, to enable fast, frictionless access to trusted data.
- Optimize data hierarchy structures and lead hierarchy enrichment and attribution initiatives.
- Understand downstream impacts and communicate data changes effectively.
- Influence other teams to adopt data governance processes and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a data stewardship or data analytics role, preferably in retail.
- Strong understanding of customer domain master data, metadata, and related marketing and commerce concepts.
- Hands-on experience with data quality management and data governance tools like Collibra or Alation.
- Knowledge of applications and databases such as Stibo, Profisee, and Informatica.
- Leadership presence with the ability to present effectively to C-Suite executives.
- Ability to analyze data and extrapolate knowledge to make strong recommendations.
