Gap Inc. is hiring a Data Governance Manager specializing in customer, marketing, and commerce domains to join our enterprise data governance team. You will act as a subject matter expert, prioritizing business value use cases and enabling data-driven insights. Your role involves close collaboration with business, product, and technology teams to ensure data consistency and integrity.
What You'll Do
- Articulate and apply data strategy principles to complex, cross-functional business problems.
- Lead workshops with business stakeholders to understand use cases and facilitate solution implementation.
- Implement data governance policies and procedures for data sharing, retention, and PII protection.
- Lead data governance forums to ensure effective oversight and achieve desired outcomes.
- Build the customer, loyalty, and marketing business metrics library with attribute enrichment.
- Own data source identification, controls monitoring, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
- Define and gather business functional data quality rules for core customer metrics.
- Support transformation programs, including customer loyalty, for fast, frictionless access to trusted data.
- Optimize data hierarchy structures and lead enrichment initiatives.
- Communicate data changes effectively by understanding downstream impacts.
- Influence other teams to adopt data governance processes.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in data stewardship or analytics, preferably in retail.
- Strong understanding of customer domain master data, metadata, marketing, and commerce data.
- Hands-on experience with data quality management and tools like Collibra or Alation.
- Knowledge of applications and databases such as Stibo, Profisee, and Informatica.
- Leadership presence with the ability to present to C-Suite executives.
- Ability to analyze data, extrapolate knowledge, and make strong recommendations.
- Strong ability to influence stakeholders and set priorities.
