Gap Inc. is hiring a Data Governance Manager focused on Customer, Marketing, & Commerce data to join our enterprise data governance team. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert, collaborating with business, product, and technology teams to prioritize high-value use cases and enable data-driven insights. You will drive data as a product, ensuring consistency, integrity, and reliable access to trusted data.
What You'll Do
- Articulate and apply data strategy principles to complex business problems spanning multiple functions.
- Lead workshops independently to understand business use cases and facilitate solutions across stakeholders.
- Implement data governance policies for data sharing, retention, and PII protection.
- Lead data governance forums to ensure effective oversight and achieve desired outcomes.
- Build and own the customer, loyalty, and marketing business metrics library with attribute enrichment, acting as the lead finance data steward.
- Manage data source identification, controls monitoring, data quality frameworks, and metadata management.
- Define and gather business functional data quality rules for core customer metrics.
- Support transformation programs, including customer loyalty, ensuring fast, frictionless access to trusted data.
- Optimize data hierarchy structures and lead hierarchy enrichment and attribution initiatives.
- Understand downstream impacts and communicate data changes effectively to relevant teams.
- Influence other teams to adopt data governance processes and procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a data stewardship or data analytics role, preferably in the retail industry.
- Strong understanding of customer domain master data, metadata, and data related to marketing and commerce.
- Hands-on experience with data quality management and data governance tools like Collibra and Alation.
- Knowledge of applications and databases such as Stibo, Profisee, and Informatica.
- Leadership presence with the ability to present to C-Suite executives.
- Ability to analyze data, extrapolate knowledge, and make strong, actionable recommendations.
- Strong ability to influence stakeholders and set priorities effectively.
Nice to Have
- A Master's degree or a relevant professional certification is a plus.
