Darkroom is seeking a Data Engineer, Matter for a part-time contract role with potential to evolve into a long-term position. You will collaborate directly with the CTO and product teams to architect, build, and optimize robust data transformations and integrations for an always-on AI platform, directly impacting product velocity and client success.
What You'll Do
- Architect, build, and optimize scalable end-to-end data pipelines using dbt and the supporting stack.
- Design, implement, and maintain ETL/ELT processes to ingest, clean, and transform large datasets from various sources.
- Collaborate with product and engineering to define data requirements for new features and analytics initiatives.
- Ensure data reliability, integrity, and security at scale.
- Troubleshoot, performance-tune, and document all pipelines and workflows.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on experience building production-grade data pipelines, ETL/ELT workflows, and transformed datasets at scale.
- Expert-level proficiency in Python.
- Strong experience with dbt, Postgres, BigQuery, and core GCP data services (e.g., Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Storage, Composer).
- Demonstrated experience architecting, optimizing, and troubleshooting cloud-based data infrastructure.
- Excellent communication skills: you read requirements carefully, keep stakeholders informed, and document as you go.
- A low-ego, high-ownership mindset, passionate about building product-focused solutions.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with marketing or digital marketing analytics, BI tools, and data visualization platforms.
- Startup or contract/consulting experience strongly preferred; you move quickly and commit to clear deliverables and deadlines.
