Astreya Partners is hiring a Data Center Engineer III to lead the design of datacenter collocations and infrastructure hardware. You will provide critical technical consultation and create the drawings and Scopes of Work for new Point of Presence builds. The role involves deploying, configuring, and supporting a large-scale production network infrastructure while managing project timelines.
What You'll Do
- Design datacenter collocations and infrastructure hardware and provide technical consultations.
- Build all drawings for datacenter POPs and develop Scopes of Work for new POP builds.
- Create detailed installation Method of Procedures for optical transport, switching equipment, overhead cable management, and power systems.
- Deploy, configure, and support large-scale production and corporate network and server infrastructure.
- Calculate and document equipment power requirements, working with Engineering and Facilities teams.
- Manage project timelines to support network turn-up within expected completion intervals.
- Oversee asset management of networking gear in datacenter and POP sites.
- Contribute to documentation, automation, and process evolution.
- Create network rack elevations, floor plans, wiring diagrams, and detailed port maps.
- Create statements of work for vendors at POP sites.
- Design cages and racks, understanding the overall needs of POP infrastructure.
- Document and follow RMA processes for all relevant vendors.
- Assist in following, improving, and implementing data center and POP best practices.
- Work closely with Network Engineering, Logistics, and equipment vendors on new technology integration.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree and 5 to 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination.
- Understanding of data center practices, including cable routing, power usage, and cooling calculations.
- Familiarity with creating As-Built drawings for Datacenter POPs and using DC-CAD for the 3rd module.
- Knowledge of how to build Scopes of Work for new POP builds.
- Understanding of field-based work in POPs, carrier hotels, or Central Office environments.
- Understanding of fiber-optic technology, including cable types, connector types, optic types, patch panels, and transport.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work directly with carriers and vendors.
- Understanding of the importance of dealing with service providers and colocation facilities.
- Ability to work within a global team in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent time management and organization skills.
