This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and securing network infrastructure between Amazon and the U.S. Marine Corps. The engineer will focus on automating network operations, identifying and resolving security vulnerabilities, and ensuring continuous service performance and compliance. Work is conducted within a government-contracted framework, requiring strict adherence to cybersecurity standards and operational protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and modify network configurations connecting Amazon and USMC systems using AWS technologies
- Assess, detect, and remediate cybersecurity threats across network environments
- Manage virtual private clouds (VPCs), routing, and cross-account connectivity
- Support system operations and provide technical assistance for cloud-based services
- Maintain operating systems and deploy updates via WSUS and HBSS
- Configure and manage identity services including Active Directory and multi-factor authentication
- Operate and monitor firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and remote access gateways
- Ensure compliance using ACAS, HBSS, and Config rules
- Implement certificate validation through OCSP and maintain secure network components
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, physical science, or a related technical field
- At least 10 years of experience in systems engineering, architecture, or C5ISR support
- Five years of hands-on experience in cyber engineering, network infrastructure, or cloud migration
- Proven background in network automation, server virtualization, and software configuration
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in technical teams
- U.S. Citizenship and eligibility to obtain a SECRET-level security clearance
Preferred Skills
- Extensive knowledge of AWS GovCloud and core services including IAM, VPC, S3, Lambda, EventBridge, CloudTrail, Config, and CloudWatch
- Advanced experience with Infrastructure as Code using AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform
- Proficiency in Git-based workflows, CI/CD pipeline design, and secure code practices
- Experience with event-driven data processing, API-based inventory collection, and data schema design
- Familiarity with KMS encryption, SAML, identity federation (Azure AD, Entra, ADFS), and Security Hub tools
- Understanding of compliance boundaries in government cloud environments
- Background with GuardDuty, IAM Access Analyzer, and automated compliance monitoring
- Experience with SAFe or agile frameworks in large-scale IT projects
- Recognition as a technical leader in federal or public-sector IT initiatives
Work Environment
