About the Role
The selected candidate will support the design, implementation, and monitoring of security controls across IT systems. Responsibilities include vulnerability management, incident response coordination, and adherence to federal cybersecurity frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Monitor network traffic for suspicious activity
- Conduct regular system vulnerability scans
- Respond to security incidents using established protocols
- Assist in the development of security policies
- Perform risk assessments on existing infrastructure
- Support compliance audits and documentation
- Deploy and configure firewalls and intrusion detection systems
- Analyze malware and other malicious software
- Maintain system security baselines
- Track and report on security posture metrics
- Participate in penetration testing exercises
- Evaluate third-party security documentation
- Implement encryption solutions for data protection
- Support identity and access management initiatives
- Document security configurations and changes
- Coordinate with IT teams during system upgrades
- Assist in security awareness training delivery
- Ensure adherence to NIST guidelines
- Troubleshoot security tooling issues
- Maintain logs and audit trails for review
Nice to Have
- CompTIA Security+ certification
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Experience with Splunk or similar analytics tools
- Knowledge of AWS or Azure security features
- Familiarity with endpoint detection and response tools
- Hands-on experience with phishing simulation platforms
- Understanding of DevSecOps practices
- Prior work in government contracting environments
- Experience with STIGs and security hardening guides
- Familiarity with incident ticketing systems
