As a Customer Engineer, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to public sector clients across the United States, helping them adopt and optimize Google Cloud solutions. You will collaborate closely with sales teams to understand customer needs, design scalable and secure cloud architectures, and lead technical proof-of-concepts. In this role, you will also guide complex cloud migrations, troubleshoot technical challenges, and gather customer feedback to influence product roadmaps. Your expertise in cloud-native technologies and customer-facing engineering will be critical in driving digital transformation for government, education, and research institutions.
Responsibilities
- Address customer challenges centered on analytics by delivering technical solutions and relaying insights to shape product improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 10 years of experience in cloud-native architecture within customer-facing or support roles.
- Background in cloud engineering, on-premises systems, virtualization, or containerization technologies.
- Proven track record in moving applications and services to cloud environments.
Nice to Have
- Solid understanding of core infrastructure components including compute, storage, networking, and backup systems.
- Experience interacting with, presenting to, or influencing technical decision-makers or executive-level stakeholders.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud products and their competitive advantages.
- Track record in selling technical solutions in areas such as infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data management, analytics, AI, networking, migrations, or security.
- Proficient in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible, and experienced in designing CI/CD pipelines.

Compensation
US base salary range: $153,000 - $222,000. Includes equity. Bonus included.
Work Arrangement
Hybrid work model with location flexibility in Reston, VA; Austin, TX; Boulder, CO; Sunnyvale, CA; and Washington D.C., DC.
