UT Southwestern Medical Center is hiring a CT Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will work under minimal supervision with physicians to perform CT imaging exams, manage exam protocols, and facilitate equipment maintenance. This is a weekday shift, working 4 days a week with 10 hour days.
What You'll Do
- Review physician orders for accuracy, diagnosis, and applicability to selected CT protocol.
- Screen patients for contrast allergies, contraindications, and appropriateness that would prohibit or modify the CT exam.
- Communicate with Radiologists to discuss stat/urgent findings.
- Consult with radiologists to determine appropriate CT exams if protocol modification is necessary, documenting changes in the electronic health record.
- Ensure other resources such as nursing, anesthesia, and scheduling are in order.
- Interview patients using a two-patient identifier, conduct screening, and obtain medical history pertinent to the procedure.
- Explain procedures and instruct patients on necessary requirements for diagnostic images.
- Answer questions and administer screening and oral/IV contrast for relevant exams.
- Administer intravenous injections of contrast material as appropriate while observing patients for adverse reactions.
- Assist physicians as needed during procedures.
- Ensure images and information are properly documented with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
- Utilize technical knowledge to perform procedures accurately and timely in accordance with age-specific criteria.
- Complete exam charges and image documentation promptly.
- Perform CT exams ensuring patients meet radiation safety requirements according to ALARA principles.
- Assist patients in dressing, attend to their physical well-being during transport, and position them for exams.
What We're Looking For
- Associate's Degree in Radiologic Sciences or graduation from an AMA-approved school.
- ARRT-CT (Registered Technologist Computed Tomography) certification upon hire.
- Licensed by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologic Technologist upon hire.
- BASIC LIFE SUPPORT certification, accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), required by the first day of employment.
