Monzo is hiring a Credit Analyst, Flex to join our Data Team within the Borrowing business unit. You will be responsible for developing credit and pricing strategies for Monzo's Flex credit card product, using data to improve underwriting, manage portfolio risk, and support new product launches.

What You'll Do

  • Work on initiatives to improve credit underwriting, boost growth, and/or manage portfolio risk.
  • Support the design and roll-out of new lending strategies by finding patterns in the data and translating these into insights.
  • Monitor the performance of existing strategies and iterate to improve them.
  • Work alongside people from engineering, marketing, product, risk and control to design and deliver product changes.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor credit models to assess net present value of new lending cohorts to drive strategic business decisions.
  • Build and maintain the database tables and dashboards that provide insights and promote rapid, data-driven decisions.
  • Support the design and roll-out of new products and customer journeys.
  • Assess how the lending portfolio of particular products will perform over time.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in unsecured retail lending (e.g. personal loans, credit cards, overdrafts, buy now pay later etc.).
  • Understanding of how the unsecured retail lending market works including the impact of pricing dynamics on portfolio performance.
  • Understanding of lending economics and experience developing and deploying underwriting strategies.
  • Strong analytical and data capabilities, backed up by technical coding skills. SQL is a must-have.
  • A working understanding of the regulations that apply to lending in the UK.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment and are keen for the chance to improve products and help ship changes to customers.
  • Strong communicator, able to cut through complex problems and articulate decision points.
  • Some experience in project management and coordination across teams.
  • Work well collaborating in a team with diverse skill-sets and personality types.
  • Highly motivated and energised by the idea of bringing positive impact to customers and Monzo.

Nice to Have

  • Python and Looker experience is a plus.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation: £55,000 to £77,000 + equity (Options)
  • Learning budget of £1,000 a year for books, training courses and conferences.

Work Mode

This is a hybrid role based in our Cardiff or London offices, or Remote (UK).
