About the Role
The engineer will develop and execute validation plans to assess CPU power delivery, thermal behavior, and performance efficiency across various operating scenarios.
Responsibilities
- Develop test plans for post-silicon validation of CPU power and performance
- Execute electrical and thermal tests on fabricated silicon
- Analyze power consumption under different workload profiles
- Characterize performance behavior across voltage and frequency settings
- Collaborate with design teams to identify and resolve issues
- Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and power analyzers
- Document test results and create validation reports
- Debug silicon anomalies related to power delivery
- Validate power management features and states
- Ensure compliance with thermal design specifications
- Evaluate dynamic voltage and frequency scaling behavior
- Support system-level performance benchmarking
- Identify discrepancies between expected and measured power
- Work with firmware and BIOS teams on power control settings
- Improve validation methodologies based on findings
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews
- Assist in root cause analysis for silicon bugs
- Develop automation scripts for test repeatability
- Monitor real-time power and performance metrics
- Validate power delivery under stress conditions
- Contribute to power model accuracy improvements
- Support bring-up of new CPU platforms
- Ensure test coverage for corner-case scenarios
- Maintain lab test setups and equipment
- Provide feedback to architecture teams on design trade-offs
