About the Role
The consultant will evaluate facility compliance with life safety codes, healthcare standards, and emergency preparedness regulations, providing actionable recommendations to improve safety and regulatory alignment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site evaluations of life safety systems and building code compliance
- Review fire protection systems, egress routes, and fire barriers
- Assess emergency management programs for readiness and regulatory adherence
- Evaluate physical environment conditions in healthcare and other facilities
- Interpret and apply standards from NFPA, The Joint Commission, CMS, and local codes
- Prepare detailed technical reports with findings and corrective actions
- Support clients in achieving and maintaining accreditation
- Collaborate with engineers and safety professionals on multidisciplinary projects
- Deliver training on life safety and emergency management topics
- Assist in developing emergency operations plans and response procedures
- Perform risk assessments for natural and man-made hazards
- Track compliance timelines and remediation progress
- Advise on smoke compartmentation and fire-rated assembly integrity
- Review documentation for fire drills, equipment testing, and maintenance
- Support project management for large-scale compliance initiatives
- Engage with facility staff to understand operational challenges
- Stay current with changes in codes and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to quality assurance processes for consulting deliverables
- Use software tools for data collection and reporting
- Travel to client sites as needed for assessments
