Play a key role in advancing transportation infrastructure by managing utility coordination for roadway and bridge projects across South Carolina. You will act as the central联络 point between state agencies, utility providers, contractors, and design professionals, ensuring all utility-related aspects are accurately documented and resolved.
Key Responsibilities
- Review subsurface utility data, as-built drawings, and survey results to detect existing utilities and potential conflicts with proposed infrastructure.
- Produce and update Utility Coordination Reports, Relocation Reports, and other required documentation in alignment with SCDOT standards.
- Integrate utility information into design plans and support conflict resolution during engineering development.
- Lead coordination meetings with utility owners and agency representatives to align on relocation needs and timelines.
- Prepare and evaluate utility relocation plans, agreements, and cost estimates for inclusion in right-of-way and construction submissions.
- Monitor project schedules, maintain detailed records, and ensure adherence to SCDOT’s Utility Accommodation Manual, FHWA regulations, and state law (SC Code Title 57).
- Support right-of-way planning by identifying impacts to utilities and adjacent property owners.
- Advise on design adjustments to minimize disruptions and support efficient utility relocations.
Qualifications
Candidates should bring demonstrated experience in utility coordination for transportation projects, with a working knowledge of SCDOT guidelines, federal regulations, and state legal requirements. Proficiency in interpreting SUE data and utility documentation is essential. Strong organizational and communication skills are required to manage correspondence, track deliverables, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. Prior experience integrating utility considerations into roadway and bridge design workflows is highly valued.
Technical Knowledge
Familiarity with Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), Utility Relocation Plans, Utility Coordination Reports (UCRs), Utility Relocation Reports (URRs), the SCDOT Utility Accommodation Manual, FHWA regulations, and SC Code of Laws Title 57 is necessary for success in this role.
