About the Role

The role involves overseeing financial activities related to construction projects, including budgeting, cost analysis, and financial reporting to support project success and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Monitor project costs and financial performance across construction assignments
• Prepare detailed monthly financial reports for active projects
• Track job costing data and reconcile project accounts
• Assist in the preparation of project budgets and forecasts
• Review contractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance
• Ensure proper allocation of expenses to correct job codes
• Support audits by providing organized financial documentation
• Maintain fixed asset records related to construction equipment
• Collaborate with project managers on financial aspects of job execution
• Analyze variances between budgeted and actual project costs
• Process payroll allocations for construction site personnel
• Manage accruals for subcontractors and construction-related services
• Prepare financial close documentation for each project phase
• Implement internal controls to safeguard project funds
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations affecting construction revenue
• Coordinate with external accountants during financial reviews
• Track progress billings and revenue recognition for contracts
• Utilize accounting software tailored for construction financials
• Assist in cash flow projections for ongoing projects
• Review purchase orders for construction materials and equipment

Nice to Have

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
• Experience with construction management software
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
• Prior work with union payroll and fringe benefit accounting
• Experience in commercial or residential construction
