Florida Power & Light Company / NextEra Energy is hiring a Compliance Manager to support our trading risk management function. You will coordinate all of NEER’s SOX, CFTC, FERC, and other regulatory compliance activities, both internally and externally. The mission of the role is to assist the Business Unit in ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements by working directly with NEER Business Units to implement and maintain a sustainable culture of compliance.
What You'll Do
- Help implement, oversee, and edit policies, procedures, processes, and controls to ensure regulatory compliance, including training and educating business unit employees.
- Assist the Business Unit with managing all aspects of SOX compliance, including narrative editing, control documentation, testing support, audit meetings, deficiency review, and IT remediation.
- Monitor trading activity, business unit processes, procedures, and reporting obligations to ensure compliance with FERC and/or CFTC regulations by analyzing data, building/modifying reports, and running queries.
- Liaise with NEE General Counsel, NEE Internal Audit, external audit partners, the NEE Corporate Responsibility Office (CRO), Federal Regulatory Affairs (FRA), and other Trading Risk Management and commercial groups.
- Develop and/or execute processes to review trade and communications data for potentially manipulative activity and assess when to escalate suspicious behavior (Anti-Market Manipulation).
- Prepare annual compliance reports required by internal management or regulatory agencies.
- Help with applicable CFTC risk assessments, rule impact analysis, and testing controls.
- Assist in gathering and analyzing compliance metrics and reporting to senior management.
- Work with IT to provide guidance on system enhancements, assist in testing compliance functionality, prioritize tasks, and ensure projects are delivered on time to meet deadlines. This may include deep dives into Power BI report building, SQL, and Power Automate.
- Keep the Director and VP within Trading Risk Management apprised of all supporting efforts.
- Complete ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Assist business units in preparing and submitting documents required for compliance and related legal proceedings.
- Interact with compliance teams, regulatory groups, and other company personnel to build relationships, address compliance issues, develop advocacy plans, and resolve problems.
- Analyze and communicate the impact of key regulatory issues on strategic business goals and potential market impact.
- Monitor the standard approval process at the applicable level and participate in workshop panels, submitting comments as required.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

- 8+ years of relevant experience
