About the Role
The Compliance Engineer will support the development and enforcement of compliance programs tailored to the APAC region. You will work closely with engineering, legal, and product teams to implement controls, conduct audits, and ensure adherence to local and international regulations.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate system architectures for compliance with regional regulations
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate compliance requirements into product development
- Monitor changes in APAC regulatory landscapes affecting technology operations
- Develop and maintain documentation for compliance audits
- Conduct regular assessments of internal processes and controls
- Identify gaps in compliance posture and recommend corrective actions
- Support third-party vendor compliance evaluations
- Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries or audits
- Implement technical controls to enforce data protection standards
- Work with legal teams to interpret new legislation
- Maintain compliance tracking systems and dashboards
- Lead compliance training sessions for technical teams
- Ensure alignment with industry standards such as ISO, SOC 2, or GDPR
- Facilitate cross-regional coordination on compliance initiatives
- Track compliance metrics and report on key indicators
- Advise on secure system design from a compliance perspective
- Participate in incident response related to compliance breaches
- Review contracts for compliance-related technical obligations
- Support certification efforts for regulatory frameworks
- Promote a culture of compliance within engineering teams
- Stay current with emerging compliance technologies and tools
- Escalate critical compliance risks to leadership
- Coordinate with external auditors during assessments
- Ensure data handling practices meet local privacy laws
