About the Role

The State of Vermont is hiring a Compliance and Enforcement Advisor to oversee regulatory compliance at a senior professional level. This role tackles a wide range of complex environmental health enforcement issues, develops compliance strategies, and contributes to rule writing to protect public health across the state.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee compliance with regulatory requirements at a senior professional level.
  • Work on complex environmental health enforcement issues, compliance assistance and improvement strategies, and rule writing.
  • Enforce food safety inspection and lodging sanitation violations.
  • Ensure lead poisoning prevention and asbestos law compliance for landlords and contractors.
  • Manage radioactive materials and x-ray instrument inspection compliance and licensing issues.
  • Prepare cases for progressive enforcement and referral to the Attorney General's Office.
  • Provide technical support, including training and guidance documents, to local town officials managing public health hazards.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in political science, communication, health, public health, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years or more of professional-level experience in government relations, communication, public health, health policy, lobbying/advocacy, or public relations.

Nice to Have

  • A law degree.
  • A Master's degree in public administration, political science, public health, or communication.

Team & Environment

You will work with Division of Environmental Health program managers and field staff, department legal counsel, and communications specialists.
