UofL Health is hiring a Coder II specializing in OB/GYN to ensure accurate medical coding and billing compliance. In this remote role, you will apply your expertise to support our mission of transforming community health through compassionate, patient-centered care.
What You'll Do
- Accurately abstract information from service documentation and assign appropriate CPT, ICD-9/10, and HCPCS codes into billing systems.
- Communicate professionally with providers, practice management, and other stakeholders verbally and in writing.
- Work encounters in the coding work queue or task lists in a timely manner, meeting or exceeding production and quality standards.
- Understand and apply regulatory changes, staying current with coding updates such as NCCI and MUE edits.
- Identify trends and educational opportunities to ensure proper coding, documentation, and billing accuracy within your specialty.
- Review and resolve billing denials.
- Participate in special projects and complete other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of physician coding experience.
- Coding Certification through AHIMA as CCS or CCS-P or through AAPC as CPC.
Nice to Have
- Previous Electronic Health Record experience.
Team & Environment
You will work independently with limited oversight, consulting your supervisor or more senior co-workers on complex cases.
