Western Digital is looking for a Co-op SoC/ASIC Development Engineer to join our SoC Development team. You will contribute to designing, verifying, prototyping, and validating hard disk drive controller SoCs for high-volume consumer and enterprise products, working directly with experienced engineers.
What You'll Do
- Learn and apply ASIC hardware architecture involving large-scale, multi-processor, and multi-core designs.
- Gain hands-on experience with SoC prototyping using platforms like FPGAs and advanced simulation tools such as Synopsys VCS and Cadence Xcelium.
- Develop, test, and maintain firmware using C/C++ to operate and enhance SoC hardware functionality.
- Contribute to SoC-level verification, developing skills in creating and supporting test benches.
- Engage in projects like creating test plans, participating in code reviews, and conducting feature verification tests.
- Collaborate with experienced engineers to manage regressions and perform code and functional coverage analysis.
- Assist in the development of documentation for validation plans and results.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Exposure to emulation or prototyping platforms through coursework, projects, or internships.
- Familiarity with embedded C/C++ from class projects or personal exploration.
- Understanding of programming principles and languages, such as System Verilog, Verilog, or similar technologies.
- Interest in hardware and software interface protocols, like high-speed serial interfaces (SAS, SATA, PCIe) and memory architectures (DDR).
- Experience with Perl, Python, MySQL, or PHP.
- Knowledge of UVM Verification Methodology.
