Steampunk seeks a Cloud Engineer to join our growing DevSecOps practice. In this role, you will deliver features that support critical cloud initiatives, including migration, optimization, and deployment for our customers.
What You'll Do
- Identify and implement optimal cloud-based solutions for customer needs.
- Design, develop, and deploy modular cloud-based systems.
- Translate stakeholder requirements and convey them to developers.
- Automate and improve configuration, provisioning, deployment, and release processes.
- Test and examine code written by others and analyze the results.
- Ensure systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
- Identify technical problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop software updates and fixes.
- Work with developers and engineers to ensure established processes are followed.
- Support enterprise cloud applications or infrastructure through infrastructure as code.
- Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and processes per security best practices.
- Document the as-is environment, perform gap analysis, and produce recommendations.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and deployment issues.
- Act as an individual contributor and mentor more junior team members.
- Engineer solutions and provide recommendations for continuous service improvement.
- Present regular status updates and provide cross-training to other team members.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance.
- BS Degree in an IT field OR BS in a non-IT field and 2 years of related IT experience.
- 3+ years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions.
- 3+ years of experience with GCP.
- 3+ years of experience with Git SCM providers such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket.
- 3+ years of experience with systems development in an Agile environment.
- 3+ years of experience implementing infrastructure as code and orchestration.
- 3+ years of experience integrating deployments with industry-standard DevSecOps tooling.
- Experience with cloud-native networking components (e.g., GCP VPC).
- Experience troubleshooting and resolving networking and cloud infrastructure issues.
Nice to Have
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure.
- Relevant certifications: GCP Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer, GCP Cloud Professional Cloud Engineer, GCP Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional, AWS Certified SysOps Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, SAFe DevOps Certification.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
- Experience documenting an as-is environment, performing gap analysis, and producing recommendations.
- Experience scripting in Concourse, Bash, PowerShell, Python, Groovy, or Ruby.
- Experience implementing Docker containers and utilizing platforms like Kubernetes.
- Experience with automation tools, including Pivotal, Chef, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Experience in several of these areas: database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, advanced analytics.
- Candidates local to the Washington, DC metro area may be asked to work on-site in Bethesda, MD approximately once per month.
