About the Role
This role involves managing civil design projects from concept through construction, ensuring technical accuracy, mentoring design staff, and maintaining client satisfaction through effective project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and review of civil site plans for land development projects
- Oversee design teams to ensure adherence to engineering standards and project timelines
- Coordinate with surveyors, planners, and environmental specialists during project phases
- Manage preparation of grading, drainage, and utility plans
- Review engineering calculations and technical submissions for accuracy
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Serve as primary contact for clients on design-related matters
- Mentor junior engineers and designers in best practices and software use
- Participate in project scoping and proposal development
- Facilitate coordination between multidisciplinary teams
- Conduct design reviews and quality assurance checks
- Support construction observation and respond to field inquiries
- Utilize CAD and civil design software to evaluate deliverables
- Prepare and present design concepts to stakeholders
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality standards
- Identify potential design risks and recommend solutions
- Assist in budget forecasting and resource planning
- Ensure sustainable design principles are integrated into site plans
- Stay current with industry trends and regulatory changes
- Promote innovation in site layout and stormwater management
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in engineering or related discipline
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience with green infrastructure design
