About the Role

China Financial Services CorrespondentBased in Beijing or Shanghai, this role is part of the Reuters News Accelerator Program and focuses on delivering timely, insightful coverage of China’s evolving financial landscape. You will report on regulatory shifts, capital markets activity, and high-impact corporate transactions, serving a global audience of professionals and policymakers.

What You’ll Do

  • Break news and deliver authoritative reports on financial regulation affecting both domestic and international firms operating in China
  • Cover major transactions including IPOs, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity investments across mainland China and Hong Kong
  • Explain how political and regulatory developments shape market dynamics, often under tight deadlines
  • Collaborate with reporters, analysts, and editors across regions to produce sharp, forward-looking content
  • Work with visuals and multimedia teams to present complex financial narratives in accessible formats

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in financial journalism, particularly in uncovering and reporting on regulatory and deal-related stories in China
  • Strong ability to distill complicated financial and political topics into clear, accurate narratives
  • Reliable sourcing network and determination to pursue sensitive or challenging stories
  • Sound editorial judgment and a solid understanding of financial markets
  • Fluency in English and strong proficiency in Chinese

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with reporting on or within Greater China
  • Experience using data tools and social media to uncover trends and enhance storytelling
