About the Role

The role involves leading the technical direction of advanced engineering projects within the space and defence sectors, ensuring design integrity, system performance, and alignment with program goals and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of engineering strategies for space and defence systems
  • Oversee the design, testing, and validation of high-reliability electronic components
  • Provide expert technical guidance across multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory frameworks
  • Drive innovation in radio frequency and microwave technology applications
  • Manage technical risk across project lifecycles from concept to delivery
  • Collaborate with program management to meet schedule and performance targets
  • Mentor engineering staff and promote technical capability growth
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with customers and external partners
  • Lead design reviews, including preliminary and critical stages
  • Ensure robustness of engineering documentation and configuration control
  • Support proposal development and technical scoping for new opportunities
  • Champion design for manufacturability and testability
  • Integrate reliability and quality principles into system development
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application in product lines
  • Ensure electromagnetic compatibility and signal integrity in system designs
  • Oversee thermal and structural analysis of hardware in extreme environments
  • Guide the use of simulation and modeling tools for performance prediction
  • Maintain technical accountability for subsystem and system-level performance
  • Support root cause analysis and resolution of field or test anomalies
  • Promote the use of best practices in systems engineering and integration
  • Ensure adherence to security protocols for classified or sensitive programs
  • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors on technical deliverables
  • Lead failure mode and effects analysis for critical components
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes
