As a Charge Posting Specialist, you'll play a key role in maintaining the accuracy and compliance of clinical charge entry within a practice management system. Your primary responsibility will be posting charges related to Workers' Compensation cases, ensuring alignment with state-specific fee schedules and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter daily charges into the EMR system with precision, verifying alignment with clinical documentation and payer guidelines
- Confirm the completeness of supporting records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and authorizations, before charge submission
- Apply correct CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes based on provider documentation and coding protocols
- Assign appropriate modifiers such as GP, GO, 25, 59, and KX according to service type and payer rules
- Validate critical billing details including rendering provider, place of service, and billing provider information
- Verify insurance coverage and pre-authorization requirements for commercial payers
- Collaborate with clinical operations to resolve documentation gaps or inconsistencies
- Stay current with multi-state Workers' Compensation regulations, particularly in high-volume jurisdictions
Qualifications
Candidates should have 1-2 years of experience in charge posting or medical billing within a healthcare setting. Familiarity with CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and modifier usage is essential. You must be able to interpret clinical documentation accurately and work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of detail and productivity.
Preferred experience includes handling Workers' Compensation claims in California, Florida, and Texas, along with knowledge of state-specific billing requirements and fee schedules.

Work Environment
