Duke University is looking for a Certified Medical Assistant to be an integral member of the healthcare team at Duke Orthopaedics of Raleigh. You will provide direct and indirect care to patients, supporting our commitment to compassionate, collaborative, and innovative patient-centered outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Perform patient intake, including vital signs and visit information.
- Take telephone messages, document encounters, follow clinic protocols, and inform providers.
- Administer medications as ordered by providers or by established protocols.
- Participate in performance improvement projects.
- Perform tasks such as procedure setup, high-level disinfection, and sterilization.
- Attain prior authorizations for medications and durable medical equipment.
- Float in the clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated.
- Learn to schedule patients for surgery, post cases, and pend orders for required COVID testing.
- Schedule return and follow-up appointments as needed.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED.
- Medical Assistant certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA.
- BLS certification.
Nice to Have
- Level I: Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Level II: Graduation from a program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES.
- Level II: 1+ year of clinical experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
