Stevens Transport is seeking a Business Development Director – Dedicated to lead our dedicated sales efforts and drive revenue growth. This role focuses on prospecting new shippers in the United States who operate a private fleet or currently use a Dedicated provider. You will be the primary owner of aligned accounts, responsible for meeting with executive decision-makers to secure new business.
What You'll Do
- Prospect and generate leads through various channels, including cold calling, networking, and researching.
- Understand prospective customer transportation needs and provide customized solutions.
- Prepare and submit business contracts, pricing agreements, and terms of service.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, accounting, and engineering, to ensure seamless service.
- Confer with customers to evaluate performance and solicit additional business.
- Prepare and deliver sales presentations for virtual and face-to-face meetings.
- Stay up to date on transportation and refrigerated shipping industry trends.
- Execute account pricing strategies with the Executive Team.
- Develop future-oriented sales plans that support business strategies.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of demonstratable success selling Dedicated Contract Services solutions with a focus on new customer acquisition.
- Ability to independently generate, qualify leads, and convert them into sales opportunities.
- Experience uncovering customer needs and building compelling value propositions.
- Ability to leverage market insights to adjust sales strategies.
- Experience developing and presenting compelling proposals to potential dedicated contract carriage clients.
- Proven relationship building at the Executive and C-Suite levels.
- Extensive experience networking with transportation department decision-makers.
- Experience carrying new client proposals from cradle to grave completion.
- Ability to identify and pursue new business opportunities within the transportation sector.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities.
- Experience working closely with cross-functional teams to align sales, operations, and customer service.
- 3-5+ years of progressive experience in sales and business development within transportation.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Management or Business Communications.
Nice to Have
- 2+ years of dedicated contract services operations or customer service experience.
- 3+ years of experience selling temperature control/refrigerated dedicated contract services.
- Salesforce.com experience.
- A 'constantly qualifying' approach to pipeline management and time investment.
- President’s Club or equivalent achievement for dedicated contract services sales performance.
- Experience selling in a smaller/startup dedicated business unit.
- Experience selling specialized dedicated contract carriage solutions.
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and closing skills for dedicated contract services accounts.
