Salas O’Brien seeks a Building Envelope Commissioning Provider to join our team. This is a field-based role focused on commercial and institutional construction projects across New England. You will provide third-party review of the building shell to ensure energy efficiency and durability from design through construction.
What You'll Do
- Perform building envelope evaluations and diagnostic testing on existing buildings.
- Coordinate and execute envelope tests during construction, including window air and water tests, infrared imaging, blower door tests, adhesion tests, and fog tests.
- Conduct building envelope forensics and perform envelope inspections during construction.
- Perform Energy Audits with a focus on the building envelope.
- Write field reports and manage email correspondence for scheduling and reporting.
- Develop commissioning plans and specifications.
- Participate in envelope commissioning meetings.
- Implement the commissioning process on commercial projects, collaborating with BECx staff, client, design team, and construction manager.
- Assist the commissioning project manager with plan and specification reviews.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s Degree in construction, engineering, architecture, or a related field.
- 2+ years previous experience in design or construction, especially in commercial construction.
- Proficiency in reading commercial construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Strong communication skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and working with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent written communication skills for reports and email correspondence.
- Proficiency with email, MS Word, and Excel.
- A valid driver’s license and dependable automobile for reimbursable travel.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with energy audits, blower door testing, or infrared imaging is a plus.

Work Mode
This is a hybrid role. We are seeking candidates in the Springfield, MA area or Hartford, CT area, and will consider other qualified candidates in New England.
