About the Role
This role involves operating broadcast equipment and managing live video feeds during real-time streaming events, supporting production teams with technical setup, signal routing, and on-air reliability.
Responsibilities
- Operate live streaming encoders and decoders for broadcast-quality video transmission
- Monitor video and audio signals to maintain consistent output quality
- Set up and configure cameras, switchers, and transmission systems before live events
- Troubleshoot technical issues during live productions swiftly and effectively
- Coordinate with production staff to align technical execution with creative goals
- Ensure compliance with broadcast standards and safety protocols
- Manage signal routing across multiple sources and destinations
- Support remote broadcasts with reliable connectivity and backup solutions
- Maintain detailed logs of system configurations and event timelines
- Perform pre-event system checks to verify equipment readiness
- Assist in the integration of graphics and audio elements during live shows
- Respond to real-time changes in production schedules or technical requirements
- Handle cabling, power distribution, and field setup for mobile broadcasts
- Ensure secure and stable network connections for streaming platforms
- Work with IT teams to manage firewalls and bandwidth allocation
- Support multi-platform distribution including web, mobile, and OTT services
- Document technical workflows for future reference and team training
- Assist in post-event equipment breakdown and storage
- Stay current with emerging broadcast technologies and streaming protocols
- Maintain inventory of operational gear and report maintenance needs
Nice to Have
- Experience with NewTek or similar live production systems
- Certification in broadcast engineering or AV technology
- Background in sports or large-scale event broadcasting
- Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 or NDI workflows
- Experience with cloud-based production platforms
- Familiarity with timecode and genlock synchronization
- Exposure to augmented reality or virtual set environments
- Understanding of captioning and accessibility standards
- Prior work with federal or state government clients
- Experience supporting hybrid in-person and remote crews
