About the Role
The role involves translating design intent into precise shop drawings using BIM tools, coordinating with engineers and contractors, and maintaining model integrity throughout project lifecycles.
Responsibilities
- Generate accurate shop drawings from design models using BIM software
- Ensure fabrication details meet project specifications and standards
- Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to resolve design conflicts
- Maintain consistency between 3D models and 2D documentation
- Review design packages for constructability and technical feasibility
- Produce as-built drawings reflecting final installation conditions
- Support coordination between subcontractors and main contractors
- Update models in response to design changes or site adjustments
- Verify dimensional accuracy of components prior to manufacturing
- Participate in clash detection and resolution sessions
- Follow quality assurance procedures for drawing approvals
- Adhere to project timelines for drawing deliverables
- Integrate feedback from site teams into revised drawings
- Ensure compliance with UK construction regulations and codes
- Maintain organized drawing registers and revision logs
- Use Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD for model development and review
- Coordinate with BIM managers to align with project LOD requirements
- Support digital collaboration through common data environments
- Prepare drawing submittals for client review
- Assist in developing standardised drawing templates
- Train junior staff on BIM workflows and office standards
- Monitor model health and resolve software-related issues
- Attend design coordination meetings with project stakeholders
- Document design decisions impacting fabrication
