Kustomer is looking for a Billing Manager to lead the management of our customer billing and billing support operations. You will be the subject matter expert responsible for building a best-practice billing function on our enterprise-grade billing platform.
What You'll Do
- Manage an enterprise-grade SaaS billing solution (Zuora), including implementing new pricing and products and troubleshooting.
- Process daily billings and ensure invoices are accurate and complete.
- Work cross-functionally to review customer contracts and ensure proper billing set-up adhering to system requirements and policy standards.
- Respond to external and internal customer inquiries pertaining to invoices, payments, discrepancies and contract clarification requests.
- Perform timely and accurate daily cash postings.
- Work with the finance team to improve overall processes, drive efficiencies and improve/monitor internal controls for billings and collections.
- Assist the sales department with contracts and customer related questions as needed.
- Respond to field escalations (sales and service) and customer service requests.
- Lead month-end closing activities related to Accounts Receivable and Revenue Recognition.
- Assist with Sales Tax reporting and reconciliations.
- Assist with the annual financial statement audit.
- Mentor members of the Billing Team and provide support with general activities.
- Handle additional ad hoc responsibilities as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Advanced knowledge of Zuora or a similar SaaS product.
- Previous experience implementing or managing a billing software.
- 5+ years of billing experience.
- Background in a cloud software environment with annual subscription, usage-based and renewal billing, collections and account reconciliations.
- Previous experience in a cloud software startup environment, high-growth, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Proven ability to perform complex billing transactions.
- Proven track record for improving process efficiencies and solving problems.
- Ability to identify areas for process improvement initiatives.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.).
- Strong organizational and management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Nice to Have
- BS in Finance or Accounting.
- Working knowledge of Salesforce or CPQ tools.
- 3+ years of experience in financial operations including general ledger and journal entries.
- Understanding of GAAP, ASC 606 and revenue recognition experience.
