TransUnion is seeking a Bilingual Legal Counsel to join its Global Solutions team in a remote capacity based in Costa Rica. This role provides legal support to ensure business practices, policies, and operations comply with contractual, regulatory, and legal requirements, with a focus on privacy, consumer reporting, and international law.
What You'll Do
- Provides counsel, legal support, and direction on complex legal matters across multiple jurisdictions.
- Acts as legal counsel on contractual matters related to Global Solutions.
- Provides legal review and assistance and liaises with management and stakeholders.
- Reviews products and services to assess legal and compliance risks.
- Helps execute risk mitigation strategies.
- Provides prompt and practical advice on complex contractual matters involving personal information and/or technology transfer.
- Keeps abreast of current legislative developments, especially in privacy, technology, data, and consumer reporting laws.
- Works with other departments on commercial matters, corporate risk analysis, and related issues.
- Provides formal and informal training for internal clients, including sales meetings, operations, and one-on-one discussions.
- Maintains and develops positive and professional working relationships with legal team members, internal and external clients, Solutions team, Compliance, Risk, and management.
- Ensures the Associate General Counsel for Retail Banking is fully briefed on major issues and legislative changes in the relevant business area.
- Ensures Legal management is fully briefed on major legal, legislative, business, contractual, or operational issues.
- Provides support to team initiatives.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor degree in laws
- 5-7 years of experience as a general commercial lawyer
- Must be a member of the law society in country of residence
- English proficiency (verbal and written) mandatory
- Excellent English written skills
- Ability to draft clear and concise documents
- Proficiency with legal technology
- Strong organizational and advocacy skills
- Effectively and efficiently manage multiple, complex, and often conflicting and quickly changing priorities
- Strong analytic and problem solving skills
- Technologically adept and proficiency with the tools of the profession
- Strong negotiation, and analytical skills (i.e., logical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making)

- Knowledge and understanding of privacy legislation
