YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is hiring a Before and After School Program Assistant Teacher

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a Before and After School Program Assistant Teacher to create a reliable, safe, and engaging environment for children preparing for or unwinding from their school day. You will assist in planning, developing, and implementing classroom activities at off-site school locations throughout the Thornapple Kellogg Schools district.

What You'll Do

• Assist the Site Coordinator in developing and leading daily lesson plans.
• Prepare materials for daily program activities.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, arrival, and departure times.
• Provide weekly lesson plans and daily individual activity updates to parents.
• Maintain active supervision and ensure the safety of all children.
• Assist the Site Supervisor with parent-teacher conferences as needed.
• Manage the quality and quantity of classroom supplies, equipment, and materials.
• Perform other necessary functions for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA.

What We're Looking For

• Six months to one year of youth development experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Ability to interact effectively with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
• A genuine desire and ability to work with school-age children.
• Blood Borne Pathogen training.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification, required within the first 60 days.
• First Aid Certification, required within the first 60 days.
• AED-Oxygen Certification, required within the first 60 days.
• State of Michigan criminal background clearance (ICHAT).
• Weekday availability, with 6:00 AM - 9:00 AM being required.

You will assist the Site Coordinator and Site Supervisor in delivering program activities.
