Locals is looking for a Backend Engineer to join our team building the go-to space for creators to grow, monetize communities, and connect with their fans. In this role, you will be responsible for developing new features and maintaining existing ones, with a focus on performance and scale optimization. You'll collaborate closely with team members in QA, Product Management, and Engineering.
What You'll Do
- Develop new features and maintain existing ones for the Locals platform.
- Optimize the performance and scale of our backend systems.
- Collaborate closely with team members in QA, Product Management, and Engineering.
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years of experience delivering Python-based backend projects.
- Startup experience or comfort with the challenges of early-stage companies and navigating ambiguity.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, taking ownership and delivering results.
- Strong prioritization and verbal communication skills; a good team player.
- Proficiency with Django and Django Rest Framework.
- Proficiency in PostgreSQL or Firebase.
- Familiarity with GCP Pub/Sub, RabbitMQ, and Redis Streams.
- Experience with GCP or AWS.
- Proficiency in Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with automated build and test systems for CI/CD, specifically Github Actions.
