Voodoo is hiring a Backend Engineer for BeReal, focused on scaling the app to support hundreds of millions of users. You will tackle complex technical challenges from massive user spikes and help evolve a robust, high-scale architecture that fosters genuine connections.
What You'll Do
- Tackle technical challenges from spikes of millions of users connecting within a 2-minute window.
- Contribute to developing a robust architecture capable of supporting massive scale.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to create new features for the app.
- Analyze trade-offs and address technical challenges related to key backend components.
- Participate in code and design reviews.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience working on API on distributed architecture.
- Proven experience in Go and developing high volume API microservices.
- Self-reliant with prior experience in a startup or similar environment.
- Proficient in English.
- Master's degree in computer science or a related field.

- Cloud: GCP, Kubernetes, Pub/Sub
- CI/CD: GitHub actions, ArgoCD
- Backend: Go, Node.js (NestJS, Nx, Typescript)
- Mobile: Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android)
- Data: Spanner, PostgreSQL, Redis
