Lazer is hiring a Senior Back-End Engineer, Shopify Apps & Extensions to join our remote team. You'll build custom apps, backend services, and extensions that enhance Shopify's core functionality. You'll collaborate closely with front-end developers and product stakeholders within our 80+ senior engineers and designers to create scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions.

What You'll Do

Design and develop custom Shopify apps, both public and private
Build backend services and APIs using Node.js, Remix, and Next.js
Create Shopify Functions and custom checkout logic
Implement database schemas and data persistence using MongoDB or Supabase
Integrate with third-party tools and APIs via the Shopify Admin and Storefront APIs
Troubleshoot and optimize app performance, security, and scalability
Collaborate with the front-end team and contribute to headless commerce builds

What We're Looking For

Strong experience developing apps in the Shopify ecosystem
Proficient in Node.js, Remix, and/or Next.js
Hands-on experience with Shopify Functions and app extensions
Experience with MongoDB, Supabase, or similar NoSQL databases
Familiar with Shopify APIs and authentication workflows
Good understanding of deployment pipelines and Git-based workflows
Comfortable working in a remote, async environment
Detail-oriented and collaborative

Nice to Have

Experience with React for building app UIs
Knowledge of POS extensions
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Vercel, AWS)
Experience with data migrations or integrations within Shopify
