As an Automation Test Engineer, you will lead the QA automation function, shaping how testing is approached across the software lifecycle. Reporting to the Development Manager, you'll design and implement automated test frameworks that ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of software solutions. Your work will directly influence product quality and delivery efficiency in a fast-moving DevOps environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of automated testing strategies and take full ownership of the QA automation function
- Design, build, and maintain robust test automation frameworks from the ground up
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery
- Conduct both manual and automated testing across web, cloud, and integrated systems
- Collaborate with developers, QA leads, and stakeholders to detect and resolve defects early
- Define testing standards, release criteria, and maintain comprehensive test plans aligned with development cycles
- Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies that enhance testing capabilities
- Support User Acceptance Testing and ensure alignment with business requirements
Qualifications and Skills
You bring proven experience in building test automation frameworks and designing end-to-end testing strategies. You’re proficient in tools like Playwright or Selenium and have hands-on experience with API, UI, and backend testing. Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, DevOps platforms, and Postman is essential. You’re comfortable working in agile, DevOps-driven environments and writing clean, maintainable code in languages such as C#, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
Degree or diploma in a relevant field is preferred, as is certification in Quality Assurance. Personal qualities including attention to detail, initiative, and a collaborative mindset are highly valued. You must be authorized to work in New Zealand.
