Wabtec Corporation is seeking an Automation Specialist to join a multidisciplinary team focused on innovation and customer satisfaction within large-scale industrial system development and integration projects, primarily in non-destructive testing. In this role, you will execute projects within constraints while advising project teams and clients on using automation to solve specific challenges.
What You'll Do
- Analyze application requirements for various automation technologies in industrial control systems.
- Program PLCs, frequency drives, and Human-Machine Interfaces for standard or less complex systems.
- Act as the technical lead for the automation component on assigned projects.
- Ensure system integrity during commissioning.
- Ensure proper parameterization, operation, and optimization of all system component sequences.
- Manage communication and data exchange with partner software and controllers.
- Verify that all machine safety systems are functional.
- Participate in system debugging as needed.
- Ensure the compliance of documents and electrical drawings.
- Execute final procedures and tests for systems.
- Interpret electrical drawings to perform minor debugging and participate in drawing revisions and as-built modifications.
- Communicate effectively with team members on automation-related issues and participate in internal periodic and design review meetings.
- Prepare technical documentation related to automation per standard documents, established processes, and client requirements.
- Propose methods and tools to improve overall team performance.
- Occasionally be present on-site in other countries during installations.
- Provide automation training to external clients for projects you have been involved in.
- Support after-sales service for all automation-related issues on standard or less complex systems and any other project you have been involved with.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or technical diploma in an engineering field (electrical, automation, robotics, etc.).
- 0 to 5 years of relevant experience in programming industrial equipment and automation.
- Interest in working with new technologies and facing new technological challenges.
- Interest in a role involving external clients and development partners to complete projects.
- Interest in non-destructive testing technologies.
- Basic knowledge of Siemens (Step7, WinCC, TIA Portal) or Allen-Bradley (Studio 5000, FTview ME) PLC and HMI programming platforms.
- Knowledge of industrial computer network architecture and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet/Profisafe, Profibus, etc.).
- Knowledge of low-voltage (600V) electrical distribution equipment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite tools.
- Advanced level of English to collaborate with stakeholders abroad.
- Hold or be able to obtain a valid passport and be available to travel approximately 8 to 16 weeks per year.

- Effective communication skills to convey and receive ideas through various media to foster understanding and build productive working relationships.

Nice to Have
- Basic knowledge of Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLC, HMI, and Drives product families.
- Knowledge of speed drives.
- Knowledge of industrial robot programming platforms (Kuka, Fanuc, ABB, etc.).
- Knowledge of industrial electrical drawings, AutoCAD/Eplan.
- Knowledge of VMWare.
