Young Life Incorporated is seeking an Associate Regional Director to provide leadership and supervision across a multi-state territory encompassing much of Illinois outside the Chicago area and portions of Eastern Iowa. This spiritually mature role is central to the long-term strategy of reaching more adolescents for Christ by ensuring strong, consistent leadership, coaching, and care for staff.
What You'll Do
- Provide leadership and supervision across a multi-state territory.
- Build relationships, coach and develop staff, support local ministry efforts, and model healthy, sustainable ministry practices through regular travel.
- Assist the regional director in casting vision for reaching 'every kid' within the region and developing diverse leadership and ministries.
- Recruit, interview, hire, place, supervise, develop, and evaluate staff within the region.
- Help develop and lead the region’s fundraising strategy, ensuring excellence in communication to donors.
- Raise necessary funds to carry out the regional ministry vision, including a portion of the personal budget.
- Work with Development staff to identify potential donors for mission-wide efforts.
- Coordinate and conduct quality events which reflect Young Life’s capacity to impact kids.
- Assist in the development of new areas and identify interested adults to help the ministry grow.
- Visit areas as needed or assigned, including routine and emergency crisis visits.
- Observe and evaluate local areas to ensure Young Life ministry is carried out with excellence.
- Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct and time management.
- Develop an appropriate system for reporting, expense report responsibilities and the use of regional funds.
- Set yearly strategic ministry plan growth and initiatives to grow the ministry; review them regularly.
- Implement and support regional initiatives.
- Accept both short and long-term assignments of projects.
- Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
- Ensure all Young Life ministry in the region is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer.
- Help areas develop committees and communicate regularly with committee and RCE chairs.
- Work with the area committee to develop good community and church relationships.
- Assist the RD to ensure a regional plan is in place to grow Young Life in the region, including multi-cultural and specialized ministries.
- Provide networking opportunities to offer additional camping experiences using non-Young Life camps and discipleship experiences.

- Proven spiritual leader.
- Proven leadership in developing diverse staff and ministries.
- Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Has the potential and capacity to function as a regional director.
- Profess a belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord.
- Subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
Nice to Have
- College degree preferred.
Team & Environment
The final supervisory region for this role is still being determined. The exact territory and reporting structure may be adjusted based on organizational needs and the strengths and experience of the selected candidate. This role reports to the Regional Director.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation range: $73,900–$100,990 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
Work Mode
This is an on-site role requiring regular travel within the assigned territory in Illinois (outside the Chicago area) and Eastern Iowa.
