Black & Veatch is hiring an Associate Overhead Transmission Line Structural Engineer to support global transmission projects, performing design engineering and analysis for large-scale transmission line work. This role focuses on 345kV+ rebuilds and greenfield projects, including trending technologies like HVDC and 765kV, within our employee-owned, infrastructure-focused firm.
What You'll Do
- Support global transmission projects performing design engineering and analysis of transmission line work.
- Perform design and analysis for large 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including technologies like HVDC and 765kV.
- Collect, assimilate, and manage data for engineering work, performing research and calculations per company and industry standards.
- Develop recommendations for equipment and materials, working within budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Prepare and verify less complex engineering deliverables, and perform calculations using standard methods.
- Seek out guidance and coordinate with supervisors and project leadership on design details and interdisciplinary work.
- Maintain positive client relations through effective communication and support business development activities as needed.
- Continuously learn and apply departmental design guides, standards, engineering codes, and company policies.
- Support continuous improvement and change management efforts.
- Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
- A minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
- Ability to complete standard pre-employment onboarding requirements.
Nice to Have
- Experience with utility-scale projects.
- Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, LPile, MFAD, Sag10, or Ultralite.
- Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3D analysis and design software.
- Solid experience using EXCEL or similar spreadsheets and MathCAD design templates.
- Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards.
