About the Role
This role involves leading mechanical engineering efforts on medium to large-scale projects across healthcare, education, and defence sectors, with responsibility for technical quality, team development, and project performance.
Responsibilities
- Reports to the Regional Director and supports the management and execution of medium to large-scale projects in healthcare, education, and defence sectors.
- Takes responsibility for project financials and contributes to the commercial success of the engineering team.
- Leads a small team of mechanical engineers, delivering specialist design input and mentoring junior and graduate-level staff.
- Collaborates with architects, structural and civil engineers, and end-user groups to align interdisciplinary designs for practical, coordinated outcomes.
- Develops fee proposals and design schedules, working with clients and stakeholders to define clear project objectives across key sectors.
- Conducts and supervises quality assurance of mechanical calculations, drawings, and digital models.
- Prepares technical specifications for mechanical systems in compliance with industry standards such as BS EN, HTM/HBN, and other relevant codes.
- Assists in shaping engineering budgets and timelines to meet project milestones, operational deadlines, and clinical commissioning requirements.
- Applies and interprets mechanical building services software for heating, cooling, ventilation, and domestic systems in social infrastructure projects.
- Oversees allocation of project resources to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of project outputs.
