OPG is hiring an Assistant Project Leader

About the Role

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven Assistant Project Leader. Reporting to the Project Leader, you will support a portfolio of multidisciplinary projects for the operation and sustainment of OPG renewable generation stations. This role coordinates matrix project execution teams and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

What You'll Do

  • Assist in organizing, coordinating, and controlling assigned projects from development through safe execution and final acceptance.
  • Support the development of project background information, scope reviews, and business case submissions for approvals and funding.
  • Help initiate and coordinate estimates, schedules, execution plans, and contract performance specifications.
  • Gather and integrate stakeholder and regulatory requirements into project plans and coordinate design clarifications.
  • Coordinate and lead meetings with designers, suppliers, construction, and operations teams pre- and post-award.
  • Monitor and report on project scope, quality, cost, and schedule, managing change and implementing corrective actions.
  • Understand and apply Contractor Management governance, overseeing construction contracts and reviewing contractor submissions.
  • Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders, chair meetings, coordinate turnover documentation, and conduct site visits as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • A 4-year university degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge and experience in an industrial, technical, or engineering environment.

Nice to Have

  • An Engineering degree.
  • Project management training or courses.

Team & Environment

You will report to the Project Leader and be responsible for coordinating matrix project execution teams.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation: $1,704.68 - $2,573.49 per week.

This is an onsite position located in Thunder Bay, ON.
