The University of Wyoming seeks an Assistant Professor to join the Division of Social Work on its Laramie campus. This is a 9-month, full-time, tenure-track position beginning in August 2026. The role involves teaching generalist and advanced generalist practice at micro, mezzo, and macro levels, with a particular interest in undergraduate and graduate social work policy courses.
What You'll Do
- Maintain an active research and scholarly program.
- Teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Advise students.
- Supervise and chair graduate student portfolios and research projects.
- Conduct field liaison work.
- Participate in division, college, university, and professional activities.
- Provide service and outreach activities.
- Participate in curriculum and program development.
- Teach during weekend and/or evening classes and scheduled intensive weekend sessions.
- Utilize classroom teaching and distance education delivery systems.
- Periodically travel within the state.
What We're Looking For
- An earned Ph.D. in social work or a closely related field (doctorate must be successfully defended prior to the anticipated start date).
- An MSW from a CSWE-accredited program or equivalency, as determined by CSWE.
- Two years of post-MSW practice experience.
- Ability and willingness to teach during evening classes and scheduled intensive weekend sessions.
- A valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record compliant with the university's Driving for University Business SAP.
Nice to Have
- Teaching experience in social work or a related field.
- Experience working with rural populations.
- Experience using distance education technology.
- Experience in a generalist or advanced generalist social work education program.
