Penn State is hiring an Assistant Professor of Communications for a tenure-track position within the Communications program at Penn State Harrisburg's School of Humanities. This role balances teaching, research, and service, with an emphasis on expertise in communications, media studies, and professional competence in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
What You'll Do
- Teach a 9-credit load each fall and spring semester, with a 3-credit course release for the first two years.
- Maintain an active and promising research agenda in your field of expertise.
- Publish articles, book chapters, and/or books with major academic journals and presses.
- Participate in service activities for campus, university, regional, and academic communities.
- Pursue sponsored research funding.
What We're Looking For
- Ph.D. in Communications or a closely associated field required by July of 2026.
- Record of using generative artificial intelligence in research and teaching.
Nice to Have
- Published research and conference presentations involving generative artificial intelligence in communications.
- Experience advising students.
- Sponsored research funding or the promise of sponsored research funding.
