Michigan State University’s Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences is seeking an Assistant Professor Health Programs specializing in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine. You will join a robust team of 7 faculty, 7 residents, and 20-30 veterinary nurses to manage a high caseload while contributing to clinical service, education, and scholarly work.
What You'll Do
- Manage a diverse caseload of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine patients.
- Provide clinical instruction and mentorship to house officers and veterinary students.
- Assist in the administration and daily operations of the ECCM Service.
- Commit to scholarly contributions aligned with your interests and expertise.
- Participate in pre-clinical teaching curriculum and departmental committee assignments.
- Engage in scholarly activity related to veterinary medical education and curriculum development.
What We're Looking For
- A DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary degree.
- Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Michigan, including Clinical Academic Limited and Controlled Substance licenses.
- Board certification, or eligibility for certification, by the American Board of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
- Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and staff.
- Outstanding clinical service and surgical skills in veterinary emergency and critical care medicine, outreach, consultation, and case management.
Nice to Have
- For a tenure system appointment: A track record of training and experience in hypothesis-driven science, preferably with evidence of independence to include extramural funding.

Team & Environment
You will join a service team consisting of 7 Small Animal ECCM faculty, including 6 ACVECC Diplomates, 7 residents, and 20-30 service-dedicated licensed veterinary nurses. The department is part of the larger Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences, which comprises over 30 faculty. You will report directly to the Department Chairperson.

This position is fully onsite and located at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.
