CSM Corporation is hiring an Assistant Director of Engineering to support the Director of Engineering in leading the daily operations and strategic direction of the hotel’s maintenance department. This role blends hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to ensure operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and financial performance.
What You'll Do
- Support the Director of Engineering in leading the daily operations of the maintenance department.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and building systems.
- Oversee and participate in preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure asset reliability and longevity.
- Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and equipment to ensure compliance with standards.
- Coordinate maintenance projects, capital improvements, and vendor activities.
- Ensure proper documentation and use of the work order management system.
- Maintain operational readiness of critical infrastructure including pools, boilers, generators, and kitchen equipment.
- Serve as an Energy Champion by promoting initiatives that improve efficiency and reduce consumption.
- Provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to maintenance employees, including assisting with scheduling, delegation, and workflow coordination.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Drive hotel profitability through effective control of maintenance expenses and adherence to the department budget.
- Drive guest satisfaction by setting a strong example for service and ensuring timely completion of maintenance requests.
- Lead service recovery efforts and collaborate with other hotel leaders to resolve guest concerns.
- Foster collaboration with team members, vendors, and other departments to ensure efficient completion of work.
- Work safely at all times and maintain a clean, safe work environment in compliance with all regulations.
- Ensure all maintenance employees follow proper safety procedures and protocols.
- Assist in developing, maintaining, and executing emergency response procedures.
- Ensure proper use and safeguarding of all maintenance equipment and supplies.
- Demonstrate effective self-management, the ability to multitask and prioritize, and model CSM’s core values.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of standard operating procedures and train others to ensure compliance.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or GED.
- A minimum of five (5) years of building maintenance or engineering experience.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong experience with commercial building systems, preventive maintenance programs, and hotel/hospitality operations.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, kneel, reach, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
- Capable of working both indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and conditions.
- Able to safely operate tools, machinery, lifts, and other maintenance equipment.
Nice to Have
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.
- Appliance repair certification.
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a hotel or hospitality environment.
Team & Environment
This role reports to and supports the Director of Engineering and provides direct supervision to maintenance employees.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position.
