Assent is hiring a Data Governance and Management Analyst to join our growing team. You will configure and maintain data stewardship workflows, analyze and improve data quality, and ensure data consistency across systems. Your work will be critical in collaborating with cross-functional teams to define standards, resolve issues, and monitor metrics that ensure our enterprise data is trusted and reliable.
What You'll Do
- Configure and maintain stewardship workflows and platform rules for match/merge, survivorship, and attribute validation across data domains.
- Support onboarding, approval, and escalation workflows while documenting steward responsibilities and SOPs.
- Triage and resolve configuration issues, RFF tickets, and data flow interruptions.
- Profile datasets to assess completeness, uniqueness, consistency, and validity; identify and document critical data quality issues.
- Define and monitor data quality rules and thresholds in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring or high-impact data quality issues and recommend platform or process changes.
- Track and report data quality KPIs, contributing to executive reporting and continuous improvement discussions.
- Query and analyze data to uncover trends, anomalies, or root causes impacting data reliability and usability.
- Build and maintain dashboards in tools like Tableau or Power BI to visualize stewardship metrics, quality trends, and product data health.
- Translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights and summaries for product, analytics, and governance stakeholders.
- Support federated stewardship by coordinating across business domains, enabling consistent governance practices and adoption.
- Ensure metadata, PII classification, and access controls align with governance policies and compliance standards.
- Leverage GenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to automate documentation, summarize RCA findings, and streamline triage responses or validation workflows.
- Assist in designing prompt templates or automation tasks that enhance quality analysis, metadata enrichment, and issue resolution.
- Participate in agile projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to address data issues and continuously improve data workflows.
What We're Looking For
- 2–5 years of experience involving data stewardship, data quality, data analysis or a similar role.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field is required.
- Strong understanding of data quality principles.
- Proficiency in SQL, GitHub, R, Python, SQL Server and experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Sigma.
- Comfortable with cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery) and data transformation tools (e.g., dbt).
- Exposure to GenAI tools for content generation, documentation, automation, or analysis enhancement.
- Ability to build and interpret dashboards and communicate data quality findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with agile work environments and scrum ceremonies.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to resolve data issues and align on standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge or experience with Graph databases.
- Understanding of data governance frameworks and regulatory considerations (e.g., PII handling, RBAC and lineage).
- Knowledge or experience with master data management tools such as Reltio.
