Notre Dame Academy, part of the Roman Catholic Bishop of San Diego, is seeking a Part-Time Junior High Art Teacher to inspire middle school students. You will foster a creative, supportive classroom that encourages artistic exploration and skill development aligned with our school's values.
What You'll Do
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate art lessons that align with curriculum standards.
- Introduce students to a wide range of techniques, media, and art styles like drawing, painting, and sculpture.
- Incorporate elements of art history, cultural relevance, and contemporary practices.
- Foster a classroom culture that encourages creativity, respectful critique, and personal expression.
- Adapt lessons and instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
- Assess student progress through projects, portfolios, and reflections, providing constructive feedback.
- Organize and curate student artwork for displays, exhibitions, and community events.
- Maintain inventory and manage safe use of art supplies and materials.
- Collaborate with other teachers on cross-curricular projects and school initiatives.
- Communicate regularly and respectfully with parents and colleagues.
- Return phone calls and emails in a timely and professional manner.
- Demonstrate confidentiality, professionalism, and alignment with Catholic school values.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
Nice to Have
- Active, practicing Roman Catholic.
- Valid teaching certification or licensure for middle school art.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the school Principal and join a collaborative educational community.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly pay: $33.00 - $35.00
