About the Role

General Motors Insurance seeks a Senior Principal Architect to serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for an assigned business unit at GM Financial. In this influential role, you will drive strategic alignment, lead high-impact initiatives, and act as a change agent for process improvement and business agility.

What You'll Do

  • Lead projects and initiatives through technical expertise.
  • Act as a trusted partner to business senior leaders by providing subject matter expertise, guidance, and support.
  • Drive technical thought-leadership and advocate for new methodologies that enable business agility and operational excellence.
  • Contribute to the business unit's vision and strategies, translating vision to solutions while balancing risk, investment needs, and fit for purpose.
  • Promote open communication that welcomes information sharing, seeks input, and values diverse viewpoints.
  • Nurture a strong internal network across the business unit to foster a culture of trust, inclusion, engagement, and integrity.
  • Drive cross-team solutions by anticipating and addressing problems ahead of the need and acting as a key influencer across business units.

What We're Looking For

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree plus 2 additional years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant certifications and/or licenses.
  • 12+ years in related function(s).
  • 5-7 years of experience leading through mentorship in a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience driving thought leadership and innovation across products.
  • Experience leading cross-functional and/or global initiatives from start to finish.
  • Advanced knowledge of business acumen and a deep understanding of the business implications of decisions.
  • In-depth understanding of company values, mission, vision, and strategic direction.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of GM Financial’s business operations.
  • Recognition as an expert across the business unit.
  • Advanced relationship management skills and ability to influence others to achieve results.
  • Proven skills in providing leadership through mentorship, influence, inspiration, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Exemplifies professional behavior in using logic, analysis, and judgment when encountering challenges.
  • Strong ability to map a long-term vision for the business unit and generate innovative ideas that create value.
  • Ability to maintain and grow strong working relationships and build trust with peers, cross-functional partners, and related professional organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to make smart decisions with a strong sense of urgency to accelerate continuous progression.
